About the YEE Initiative

The Youth Economic Empowerment (YEE) Initiative is a high-impact program designed to support 1,550 youth (aged 18\u201335) across Central, Northern, and Northwestern Provinces through incubation, enterprise development, and employability pathways.

Strengthen youth participation in productive economic activities

Support the creation of 1,300 new enterprises and accelerate existing ones

Enhance employability and job placement opportunities

Promote Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) across all interventions

Young entrepreneurs and mentors networking at a professional event in Zambia

Call for Mentors

Jacaranda Hub, in partnership with SNV Zambia, invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals to serve as Mentors under the YEE Initiative.

We are recruiting 50 mentors to support youth entrepreneurs and job-seeking participants through structured mentorship and coaching engagements.

Role of Mentors

Mentors will play a critical role in supporting youth through incubation and enterprise development by:

Providing individual coaching sessions (minimum of 3 per entrepreneur)
Facilitating group mentorship sessions on business and sector-specific topics
Supporting business plan development and financial projections
Delivering sector-specific technical guidance and best practices
Coaching youth on pitching and presentation skills
Connecting mentees to markets, networks, and opportunities
Maintaining monthly mentorship logs and reports
Professional mentor guiding a young entrepreneur through business planning in Zambia

Priority Areas of Expertise

We are particularly seeking mentors with experience in the following sectors and disciplines.

Agriculture & Agri-food Systems
Food Production & Trading
Fashion & Creative Manufacturing
Trading & Micro-enterprise
Financial Literacy & Investment Readiness
Market Access & Value Chain Development
Entrepreneurship & Business Development
Employability Skills & Workforce Readiness
Young Zambian entrepreneurs engaged in diverse economic activities across agriculture, food, and fashion

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should meet the following requirements to be considered.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field

Demonstrated experience in mentorship, coaching, or business advisory

Strong understanding of youth entrepreneurship or MSME development

Ability to provide practical, market-oriented guidance

Availability to commit time throughout the program period (May – June 2026)

Experience working with youth, women, or underserved groups is an added advantage

Engagement Mode

Combination of virtual and in-person sessions

Commitment

Regular monthly engagement with assigned mentees

Mentors will be matched with participants based on sector expertise and programme needs.
